UMZINGELI PRODUCTIONS – BIOGRAPHY

Further work throughout Africa includes the launch of ‘Africa Designs’ for MNET and AngloGold, which gave African designers their first opportunity to showcase their talents at New York Fashion Week, followed by ‘Afridesia’ for AngloGold which also culminated at New York Fashion Week.

Continuing his ongoing dedication to Africa, Malan produced the inaugural on-schedule This Day Arise African Fashion Collective show at New York Fashion Week A/W 2009. The show, presenting four of Africa's top fashion designers  included a guest appearance by Grace Jones and Umzingeli returned to New York to produce a second season entitled the Arise Promise of Africa Collective S/S 2010 in September this year. 

In keeping with the companies’ Pan-African focus, Malan was the entertainment director for the launch of the ‘African Renaissance Blue Train’ on the mighty Zambezi.

As a result of these groundbreaking events, Malan staged productions in more than twelve countries worldwide, including the finals of the Ford Supermodel of the World in the Dominican Republic and in Miami, USA.

Malan also served a stint as the Venue Manager at New York Fashion Week for IMG in 2001 and 2002, which gave him sought after insight into the workings of one of the world’s most prestigious Fashion Weeks. Today he applies this knowledge in shows produced worldwide.
